As we searched for a domain name that best portrays our vision for this website, we knew two things for sure. First, we wanted to express our ideas about health and happiness, and second, we felt reasonably certain that our main audience would be baby boomers like us.
Health and Happiness
We are two retired 70-something-year-olds, Aron and Vesta, who met each other later in life. Our first conversation on a dating site occurred in 2018, and even then we knew we would, at the very least, be friends for life.
Aron was up front about the five core values he was looking for in a mate, and we matched up pretty well in most areas. It took us awhile to determine that “matching up pretty well” was enough for us to build a life together.
The core value that we agree the most on is the importance of maintaining an active, healthy, and happy lifestyle. Many people our age strive for the same lifestyle we enjoy. Because we are human beings, DNA and genetics work together with environment and personal habits to determine health status. We both have inherited some pretty good genes, and we both have always paid attention to the effects of diet and exercise on our well-being.
We plan to use this website, along with blogs and podcasts, to share our experiences that we hope might help others develop their own pathways to health and happiness.
Baby Boomer
The definition of “baby boomer” (or “boomer” for short) is generally agreed upon as a person born in North America during the baby boom after World War II, which fell between 1946 and the early 1960’s. Baby boomers experienced the first rock music and television programs. The History Channel does a good job of explaining the phenomenon in their short video, Fast Facts About Baby Boomers.
An interesting point made in this video is the fact that as big spenders, most baby boomer money goes to “travel, health, wellness, and pampering their pets”.
Honeyboomer
To circle back to how we came upon the name “Honeyboomer” for our web site, we wanted a positive name that also incorporates our audience. To us, “Honey” evokes visions of sweetness, both in food and in relationships, and “boomer” (short for baby boomer) encompasses our general age group. Merging the two words into “Honeyboomer” does a pretty good job of describing us.
